Our Client, a Major international contractor, is looking for a Civil & Structural Inspection Engineer to work on a project based in Kazakhstan.



  • University Engineering Degree, preferably civil/structural engineering;
  • 5 years of relevant experience - inspection/maintenance activities in the specific area of competence;
  • Significant experience in Oil & Gas plants Design and Operation
  • Meet the technical competencies given in the Civil & Structural Engineering Job Competency profile within the Technical Professional Competency Framework.  


Additional relevant experience includes:

  • Experience in design and construction of offshore facilities and associated familiarity with structural design and analysis tools, like SACS, USFOS. 
  • Previous experience in Caspian Area is beneficial


Required Competences:

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to make presentations and write effective reports
  • General knowledge of fixed offshore platforms (steel and concrete). 
  • Familiarity with ice mechanics and ice loading on structures (ISO 19906). 
  • Familiarity with effects of wave and current on offshore structures.
  • Working knowledge of industry Standards for design of steel and concrete offshore structures, API RP 2A, Shell DEP and ISO 19902.
  • Possess and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignment. 
  • Ability to work in team environments-communicate, understand and work within the dynamics of a multi functional and multi location environment
  • Team and self motivation skills
  • Fluently written and spoken English skills



Expertise in the field of Civil/Structure inspection engineering in the oil and gas production facility.

To support maintenance and integrity management of civil and structural equipment, building and systems.  To provide quality assurance on Civil and Structures related jobs, to establish processes, procedures and develop local resources in all aspects related to Civil & Structural inspection control. In establishing the processes and procedures. The incumbent and sub-ordinates will be the primary focal points for Civil & Structural Inspection related jobs within the projects Surface Facilities, providing an audit, control framework and service supporting Maintenance activities and advice to new projects when required.



  • Set up, implement and execute a comprehensive development plan in accordance with the Civil & Structural inspection competence framework.
  • Support in the structured development of DHKs to fulfil line positions from inspector up to team leads
  • Support DHKs in investigation of equipment failure by identifying relevant failure modes, applying appropriate inspection techniques and testing requirements.
  • To participate, on behalf of the Integrity Assurance team, in project integrity audits, design reviews such as HAZOP’s, and workshops such as QRA / ALARP mitigation for the civil/structural discipline
  • To develop Civil & Structural Asset Integrity Strategies and Procedures for Facilities in compliance with Kazakh Regulations and company adopted Standards (including CoVs and International standards).
  • To develop detailed Structural and Civil Inspection and Testing Procedures and ensuring that Testing is carried out in compliance with Kazakh Regulations and company Standards
  • Identify short- and long-term actions to maintain integrity and meet health and safety, cost and technical effectiveness objectives.
  • To ensure implementation of approved civil maintenance strategies and procedures across all company assets.
  • Monitor the technical integrity of civil assets by executing inspections or coordinating external civil inspectors
  • To participate in Troubleshooting / Inspection to establish root causes of failure (RCA) and prepare Corrective Maintenance plans.
  • To support the setup of civil spare parts min/max level and acquisition of priority materials.
  • To perform Quality Assurance and Control reviews to ensure the technical integrity, constructability, functionality and reliability of the design product. 
  • To act as Contract Holder and establish/review the Approved Contract Value for Civil related contracts.
  • To provide input to the development of project execution contracting strategies that complement designs, construction methods and operating methods. 
  • To ensure compliance by all stakeholders (incl maintenance and operations) with the defined integrity assurance strategy for civil/structural components and systems
  • To liaise with the RoK technical law compliance engineer(s), to ensure that changes in RoK technical law are reflected in the integrity assurance strategy for civil/structural components and systems
  • To support development of annual budgets for execution of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs and a contingency for unplanned maintenance
  • To support development of Maintenance Reference Plan execution of big ticket Preventive and corrective Maintenance Programs.


Rate:               Negotiable please quote your rate per worked day in US$ net of Kazakh tax


Duration:           1 year contract with possible extensions


Status:             Single status Residential basis working 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.


Benefits:           Client pays medical insurance/medical evacuation, Accommodation (single status standard).  50 work days of annual leave (unpaid) and 3 paid home leave return flights per residential assignment year (1st trip after 3 months of work).
