HV/AC MECHANICAL BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEER – PERMANENT – SOUTH YORKSHIRE

 

Our Client, a renowned nationwide property consultancy who deliver a range of property services within the private and public sectors, are looking for a HV/AC Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join their team based at their offices in South Yorkshire. The Client will only accept CVs of candidates whose experience is in HV/AC and buildings projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

The following qualifications and experience are essential unless stated otherwise:

  • At intermediate level – 3 years’ minimum experience
  • Will need to be able to pass a CRB (DBS) check

·         Professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers and be working or prepared to work towards Chartered status.

 

·         Membership of the Engineering Council.

·         HNC/HND or equivalent in a Mechanical Building Services Engineering related discipline.

·         Must hold a current site card or prepared to immediately attain.

·         Experience in a similar or related role.

 

·         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

 

·         Experience in Mechanical Building Services design, specification and project management, and the maintenance of building services installations.

 

·         Experience in designing and utilising sustainable and low carbon technologies, such as biomass boiler plants and air/ground source heat pumps.

 

·         Experience of building energy management systems including upgrading and installation/extension of these systems on new projects.

 

·         Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos.

 

·         Proficient in using Hevacomp or IES and Revitt is Desirable

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HV/AC Mechanical Building Services Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification and project management of mechanical services installations for new build, maintenance and/or refurbishment programmes of work. This may include taking the project lead or working as part of a larger design team. You will also:

·         Carry out the design and management of all types of mechanical services projects including producing budget estimates, drawings, detailed service specifications, tender documentation and undertaking full contract administration duties on mechanical building services led projects.

 

·         Promote the use of renewable technologies.

 

·         Deliver mechanical projects in full in accordance with client’s brief and professional standards.

 

·         Champion and embed a genuine multi-disciplinary approach to project delivery.

 

·         Schedule and co-ordinate resources, liaising with colleagues, commissioners and clients as required.

 

·         Continually monitor the profitability of projects, ensuring they are delivered within agreed professional fees and proactively taking corrective action where required.

 

·         Where required carry out condition surveys, dilapidation or specific surveys to provide information for stock condition/asset management system and/or to aid asset appraisal.

 

·         Prepare technical/feasibility reports and valuations, advising on options and recommendations in an advisory capacity.

 

·         Act as the single point of contact on specific mechanical building services engineering issues across a range of clients.

 

·         Promote the competitive, efficient and effective delivery of mechanical services installations which will support carbon reduction strategies.

 

·         Assist with maintaining and developing professional standards and practices.

 

·         Where required, assist in the production and implementation of the marketing and business development strategy to achieve the agreed targets.

·         Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.

 

·         Fee earning at 90%, and contribute to the achievement of business plan objectives and targets.

·         This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required

 

·         Carry out duties appropriate to the grade of the post

 

·         Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high quality products and services which embrace quality standards.

 

·         Demonstrate personal commitment to the company strategy.

 

SALARY:                 Up to £35,000 depending on experience.

WORK PATTERN:   Monday to Friday (37 hours a week).
