PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – DIRECT HIRE CONTRACT – KAZAKHSTAN

 

Our Client, a Major international Oil and Gas contractor, is looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to work on a project based in Kazakhstan.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Higher Education Degree (in Engineering) is mandatory, preferably including education in Western institution of higher learning.
  • 20+ years’ experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the oil and gas industry
  • Experience in substation design
  • Ability to identify changes and improvements to the technical documentation and procedures to reflect Client’s changing requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer based systems including, CAD, Database Management systems, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office or equivalent software packages.
  • Sensitive to Client’s requirements and Client-focused.
  • Advanced AutoCAD user.
  • Knowledge of specialized calculations (as ETAP software) programs is a must.
  • Experience in accordance with the requirements of electrical regulations and standards (Electrical Installation Code, safety procedures, SN RK, etc.)
  • Experience in pre-award technical activities, involving qualification of Bidders.
  • Contracts Development Experience, supporting the drafting of technical scope of work of ITB’s, particularly for EPC scope and Lump Sum conditions.
  • Experience in selection and integration of electric equipment for Hazardous areas (according to RK-PUE and IEC/NFPA standards).
  • Sound knowledge of configuration issues, connectivity between systems, the requirements of safety related systems.
  • Experience in major Onshore or Offshore Oil & Gas Projects, or for Major Oil Company or EPC Contractors.
  • Experience in dealing with Contracts in the CIS (e.g., Republic of Kazakhstan or Russian Federation).
  • Knowledge of relevant IEC, API, BS, ASHRAE, ISO, GOST, SNiP and PUE.
  • Familiar with all the engineering tasks related to the design phases (Conceptual, Feasibility Studies, Basic, Feed and Detail Design).

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Relevant skills include Electrical Power Generation System, Power Distribution (Switchgear HV & LV, Transformers, Motors, VSD, Battery Charger, UPS, and Overhead Lines up to 110 kV), Power Management System, Cathodic Protection System, Earthing & Lightening System, Lighting System, and HVAC System.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform technical tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager / Project Manager, related with design, testing activities.
  • Interface with other Project Leaders, Specialists, Designers and Vendors Specialist.
  • Coordinate technical activities performed inside or outside the Company.
  • Coordinate and interface between the different groups/disciplines involved
  • Supervision preparation and hands-on experience in Electrical and Cathodic Protection engineering documentation (specifications, philosophies, equipment data sheets, MTOs, BOQs, etc.), including training/mentoring of local staff, where applicable.
  • Supervision in providing technical assistance to commercial activities and supports to define man hours cost estimate.

 

Duration:           1 year contract with possible extensions

 

Start Date:       ASAP

 

Rotation:         Working on a rotation of 8 weeks on, 2 weeks off, working 5 days a week 8 hours per day.

 

Rate:              US$ 9.500 - 10,500 per month worked net of Kazakh tax.  Please note that 2 weeks off is not paid so during this month you would be paid pro rata for the days worked.

 

Benefits:           Client pays medical insurance/medical evacuation, fully furnished accommodation, mob/demob and rotational flights, meals, laundry, transport.
