Our Client is a market leader in providing specialist software, outsourcing and information technology (IT) services to the human resources, local government, education and public safety markets. They are currently seeking a Strategic Product Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential
· Experience of a similar role
· Working knowledge of the project life-cycle, structured methodologies, and delivering projects on time to budget;
· Proficient working with, and installing software on to, various hardware platforms;
· Competent user of MS Office
· Relational Database (SQL-Server, Oracle)
· MS-Windows Operating Systems
· Unix (Sun systems), Linux
Desirable
· Any Crime, Custody, case management technology/solutions
· Any intelligence solutions;
· Any Command and Control solutions;
· Any mapping technology/solutions
· Any formal project management training / experience is an advantage;
Personal Skills
· Presentable IT professional with excellent communication skills, comfortable working with minimal direction and able to promote an open flow of information so that all concerned are well informed;
· Effective relationship builder, developing and maintaining productive working relationships with clients and individuals across other business units;
· Organizes time effectively, determining the right resources needed to effectively perform job assignments;
· Strong and professional attitude to working with third party suppliers
· Excellent decision-making skills;
· Able to identify sales opportunities and other commercial prospects and maximise these.

JOB SCOPE:
· To interface at the highest level of customer and partner organizations, developing long term strategies while effectively positioning The Company's L&Ps product, and ensuring an integrated approach across The Company's other service and enterprise solutions offerings
· Engage at senior levels within Government and relating commercial markets to exert influence and present The Company’s capabilities to maximum effect
· Act as an ambassador for the Sector and its products & services, both internally and externally
· To produce the market requirements definition and for all products supporting Solutions Architects on business cases for (A) products and developing business cases for (B) and (C) products
· Ensure effective `packaging' of Sector products in line with market trends, customer requirements and on-going development of these services propositions and capabilities
· To define and maintain the product portfolio and product roadmap in line with the market and business plan
· To play the lead role in the development of sector products and services in accordance with the agreed business plan and to work co-operatively with the management team to ensure that our Client’s competitive position is established and then continually enhanced
· To make recommendations to the Strategic Review Board (SRB) for the L&P Business Plan based on a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the government and commercial market and our Client’s customers, to clearly articulate and convert those requirements into high value business propositions
· Analyse customer requirements and needs in order to define, document, and prioritise in relation to the strategic product development roadmap
· Liaise with Products Manager and Development Support Manager in order to translate high-level strategy and direction into software applications, products and services
· In conjunction with the Development Manager and other project team members provide high level functional specifications for development business analysts as required, covering all aspects of the development life cycle
· Support the development of relevant case studies, project overviews, sales collateral and publish as appropriate on the company knowledge base
· To own the post-launch product enhancement cycle to ensure that it retains its market position in line with evolving market requirements
· Ensure that key messages are being communicated and are fully understood by our Client’s internal and external customers, our Client’s prospects, partners and key influencers in the markets
· To ensure that feedback on competitors' activity, strategies, capabilities and value propositions is captured and maintained by the Strategic Marketing Executive, and to work with them to help build visible competitive information that can be shared across the sales teams
· Support the sales teams to ensure our Client maximises their competitive advantage in sales situations
· To liaise with the PS Sector Manager to ensure that L&P strategies are consistent with those of the PS group as a whole, contributing to the development of joint strategies for the deployment of our Client’s capability across Government and Criminal Justice
· Attend, and in some cases co-ordinate, management, project and user group meetings as required
· Prepare regular reports on development projects, including reports on progress against plan
Key measures / outputs
· Detailed market strategy to maximise position in the market
· Product Roadmaps with supporting policy and plan providing direction for our Client’s products that is clearly articulated and understood by the market and internal delivery organisation
· Business Cases that create IP and generate growth to the gross margin contribution for the business
· Market requirements definition documents
· High level functional requirements specifications
· Robust pricing policies and clear price book to support our Client’s GM & revenue targets
· Product portfolio and product roadmaps that support the business plan requirements inline with client / market requirements
· Products recognised as quality and the best in breed in the sector, leading the market
· Valuable User Groups to both the business and clients
· Input to competitor research and assessment of competitor analysis
· Analysis of market policies and legislation and input to opinion documents
Other Information:
· This role may require as much as 75% travel both within the UK and overseas. Candidates must be able to travel without undue restriction.
· Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work within the EU. Documentary evidence will be required at interview.
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
